The great inner state football game is today! My U vs. the husband's U. I tried to greet him this morning with the fight song I have on a keyring fob...I only get it out once a year and usually beat him to the punch. But the battery has died. He just laughed at me. Maybe it is an omen, I am almost sure his team will win this afternoon. This is something we have had fun with for 45 years. And our kids are split in their loyalties. Our youngest daughter and her husband are my fellow alumni. Our older daughter cheers for his school. Our son stays neutral, but his wife cheers for mine.
And the fun part is, if he had not received a football scholarship to his U, he originally wanted to go to mine!
Watching network news tonight is frustrating.
* Maybe GM would not be bleeding cash if the execs didn't have such golden bonuses. Lutz was on 60 minutes talking about how he and his wife both have helicopters. My husband and I feel lucky we both have cars...and one is 15 years old and the other is 9 years old.
* Maybe the economy wouldn't be tanking quite so much if the media didn't have us scared to death to spend money.
* Lack of faith in our present administration, in Congress and in our future is compounding our problems.
I think I will give up watching the news.

Paul Reiser is saying what I have been thinking.
And ALL I want is a clear statement of issues from both perspectives. If the McCain/Palin ticket wants my vote, they need to state CLEARLY what they define as the issues. Not dance around questions. Not provide sound bites. Not attack the other side.
I am so tired of it all. But like an accident, I can't help but watch!

P.S. and in her interview, her lack of using the "g" in ing words drove me bananas, but that is just the English teacher in me. It was almost worse than her rfual to give clear answers, the constant dancing around with her precanned answers.

Our condo group is near the local high school. They have had some repair problems in their driveway over the summer. School has started sessions.
Does that mean they had to have the heavy equipment work from 4:30 AM until 6 AM? Couldn't they have worked after, not before school?
I don't like getting up at 5AM! Not since I retired and shouldn't have to.
But I cold not sleep with all the banging around.
Maybe they think all senior citizens have hearing problems?
I don't!!
It is going to be a very loooong day.
Why? If you can order movies "On Demand" from Comcast, why can't you choose which channels you want to receive? Of the 60 some channels we get, we only watch maybe 25 of them, and only 15 of those regularly. We sunscribe to the level we do because Hubby can't live w/o The History Channel and the ESPNs and I love HGTV and the Food Network. Otherwise we could probably go to just basic. We would miss TCM and AMC but could live without them. I enjoy CNN at times.
Why can't they let you choose the channels you want by having levels of subscription like..you order ten? Or 25? But you choose the channels. I never watch many of the channels we receive but would love to add Bravo and Oxygen which don't come on our level. And they can remove all the religious channels from my world. I don't do religion on tv...
And I do not need the HSN or QVC.
Just wondering.

Several months ago I had to change my settings from Public to Neighborhood, and sometimes to Friends and Family only. Why? First I felt as if I were being stalked by a religious conservative who was stirred up by one of my posts and was trying to save my soul. Eventually I had to put her on my email Spam list to avoid her, although I had politely asked her to stop contacting me. She really wanted to save me.
